50 Plus Center
50 Plus Center is a community center for elderly citizens(50+ years old) in Seoul Korea. It is a learning place for them to develop professional and academic careers in the later part of their lives. The new 50 Plus Center will become a learning place where elderly citizens can discover a new professional opportunity in their later part of the lives. It will also become a social space where elderly citizens can meet and share their ideas and inspiration for their new career opprotunity. Finally, it will become an easily-accessible community center for all generations to rest and learn from each other.
Concept
The site is located at the tip of Cheong Ryong Mountain. Rather than keeping the clear boundary along the existing retaining wall between the green space and the urban space, design intent is to blur the boundary mingle the nature and the urban space in harmony.

Three Entries
The 50 Plus center has three entries to enter the building. The Main Entry is located on the east side for all pedestrian visitors can enter. The garden entry on the south side provides direct access to the roof garden where visitors and passerby can enjoy the green space on both lower and upper roof levels. Visitors who drive can enter the building from the parking space on the north side so that the circulation of the pedestrians and the cars can be safely separated.
Green Space
There is an accessible courtyard garden on Level 1 that provides natrual daylighting to the center of the . The lower roof garden called Earth Garden is accessible directly from the Level 2. There is also the upper roof garden called Sky Garden. The two roof gardens are connected with stairs and sitting area called Rainbow Steps. Those green space with various sizes of sitting area will allow visitors and people living in the neighborhood to stay and enjoy a peaceful moment of the day with the natural environment in the gardens.
